Tulip Time Comes Early to Bartlett Arboretum!
Blooming bulbs are celebrating springtime in full glory at Bartlett Arboretum in Belle Plaine. All around the Arb, thousands of tu-lipsticked mouths sing out “April Fools” at their early spring surprise. This 100-year-old historic arboretum has never been more beautiful – it would be a shame to miss it. Gates are open throughout both of the next two weekends (March 31-April 1; April 7-8). Steward Robin Macy encourages visitors to pack a picnic and make the short drive south from Wichita. The arboretum has a spring full of exceptional music and other special events, but nothing will top the brilliant show being put on by tulips, daffodils, quince, lilacs, magnolias and on and on.
Bring yourself, your family, your friends (but please leave Rover at home).
Gates open 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
 A $5 donation is appreciated.

It was a picture perfect day. Quite literally.

A sell out crowd of 1300 attendees enjoyed the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s encore performance last Sunday, benefitting the Arb’s mission to construct a new, stalwart bridge and dredge the drought-stricken Euphrates creek.  Hundreds stayed for Jaime Green’s captivating documentary, Uncommon Ground, which chronicles the charming story of this historic property. The documentary will be available at BartlettArboretum.com in the near future along with 2012 calendars featuring John Morrison’s stunning arb photos. Just in time for the holidays.

The concert couldn’t have happened without these generous sponsors:

Soil Sisters & Botanical Brothers

Howerton + White

Valley State Bank

Freddy’s Frozen Custard

Beran Concrete

Jack & Kathy Manske, long-time friends of the Dirt Band who cast the spell originally.
